RESTORATION & INSURANCE CLAIMS

Property damage is enough to deal with.Let’s make the next steps clearer.

We assess the damage, explain the restoration work and document what we find. You get clearer information for your property and your insurance claim.

Calling us does not commit you to work or confirm insurance cover. Contact your insurer about approvals and payment.

CLEAR ROLES FROM THE START

Restoration and a claim work together. Each has a different role.

Knowing who is responsible for each decision can make a difficult situation easier to manage.

Reztor assesses and restores

We inspect the affected areas, explain recommendations, carry out agreed restoration work and record conditions and progress.

Your insurer decides cover

Your insurer assesses the claim against your policy. It determines covered work, claim decisions and settlement arrangements.

You stay part of the decisions

Ask what work is proposed, who is authorising it and who is responsible for the cost. Keep your insurer’s instructions with your claim records.

A CLEAR RECORD OF THE WORK

Useful details. A more understandable claim.

A restoration record connects the condition of the property with the work recommended and completed. We explain the information relevant to your assessment and agreed scope.

The record depends on the incident and work carried out. Documentation supports assessment; it does not guarantee a claim outcome.

What a restoration record may include

  • The condition on arrival

Photographs and observations of the affected areas.

  • What was measured

Moisture readings and monitoring records where relevant.

  • What was recommended and agreed

A description of the proposed restoration work and its scope.

  • What happened next

Work completed, progress updates and final condition notes.

ONE STEP AT A TIME

From the first call to the next decision.

You do not need a complete picture of the damage before asking for help.

  1. Tell us what happened

Share the incident, when it started, the affected rooms and your suburb or postcode. Call if the situation is urgent.

  2. Clarify the instructions

Contact your insurer early. Ask what it needs and what requires approval. Tell us about any existing claim instructions.

  3. Agree the restoration scope

We explain findings, recommended work and any limits. Confirm authority and payment arrangements before work starts.

  4. Keep the records connected

Retain reports and communications. If the condition or scope changes, the next work and approvals need to be discussed.

FOR THE PEOPLE INVOLVED

Make the handover easier.

A few useful details can reduce repeated questions and keep the restoration conversation focused.

Homeowners & policyholders

If safe, photograph the damage before cleanup. Keep your claim reference, insurer’s instructions and receipts. Ask your insurer before authorising building work, including emergency repairs.

Tenants & property managers

Tell the owner or managing agent about the damage. Identify the property contact and who can authorise access and work; ownership and insurance responsibilities may differ.

Claims professionals

Send the claim reference, site contact, assessment brief and reporting needs. Confirm the authorised scope, information-sharing permissions and the person responsible for approvals.

YOUR QUESTIONS

Understand the next decision.

If your situation does not fit a simple answer, talk it through with us.

Talk to Reztor
Should I call Reztor or my insurer first?

You can call us to discuss the damage and urgency. Contact your insurer promptly for its instructions and approval requirements. A call to Reztor is not insurance approval. If there is immediate danger, move away and contact emergency services.

Will my insurer cover the restoration?

Your insurer decides this using your policy and its assessment of the incident. We provide restoration findings and records. We cannot confirm cover or promise reimbursement.

Do I need a claim number before contacting you?

No. You can discuss the situation before you have a claim number. Tell us if a claim has been lodged or if you have received instructions about assessment or work.

Who pays for work if the claim is not approved?

That depends on the work authorisation and payment agreement. Before work starts, confirm who is engaging Reztor and who is responsible for payment. Do not assume an insurer will pay because a claim has been lodged.

Can you share records with a claims professional?

Tell us who needs the information and what authority you have given to share it. We can discuss the relevant records, reporting requirements and contact arrangements for the work.

What if the recommended work and insurer’s scope differ?

Ask for the difference to be explained. We can clarify the conditions we observed and the reasons for our restoration recommendations. Any additional work, authority and payment need to be agreed before proceeding.

YOUR NEXT STEP

Start with the damage. We’ll help explain the restoration.

Tell us what has happened and any instructions you already have. We can work through the next restoration decision with you.
